Several of the top US carriers
that service the Walt Disney World Resort
and the Disneyland Resort will
soon start collecting a new $25 each way baggage fee for the 2nd
checked bag. Please note Delta has announced several additional fee
increases effective April 1st.
Below are some details; please be sure to check the airline website
for more information before leaving for your
Disney vacation.
CONTINENTAL
- 2nd
checked bag fee of $25 each way will be collected effective May
5th, 2008
- New policy applies to
non-refundable tickets issued after April 5th, 2008
- Applicable for all domestic
flights including the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin
Islands.
- Car seats, strollers,
wheelchairs are exempt from the fee
Exempt passenger types:
- Coach customers on full coach
'Y' class fares
- OnePass Elite customers
regardless of fare
- SkyTeam Elite customers
regardless of fare
- Elite for a Day customers
- Active Military traveling on
orders
- First/Business Class customers
DELTA
- Second bag fee of $25 is
effective May 1st, 2008
- Applicable to All Domestic
Flights
Exempt passenger types:
- Frequent Flyer program members
who log at least 25K miles per year
- First
and Business class are still allowed up to three checked bags
OTHER DELTA FEE INCREASES
- Each Curb-checked item will be
charged $3
- Unaccompanied Minor Charge for
non-stop OR connecting service is $100 each way
- Oversize Baggage charge is $150
(except for travel to Brazil - current policies stand)
- Cabin Pets - $100 each way
- Checked Pets - $200 each way
- Plastic Bags for gate checked
strollers/car seats - $5
- Direct Ticketing Charge - $25
- Skymiles Award Mileage
Re-deposit - $100
- Ticket Reissues - $100
(domestic; could vary by fare type)
US AIRWAYS
- Effective May 5th, 2008 a $25
fee each way applies for the 2nd checked bag
- Applicable for all tickets
purchased on or after February 27th
- Applicable for all flights
within the US, to/from Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean and
Europe
Exemptions:
- All Dividend Miles members who
have preferred status
- Confirmed First Class and Envoy
passengers
- Star Alliance Silver and Gold
status members
- Active military in uniform and
with ID
- Unaccompanied minors
- Passengers
checking personal assistive devices
UNITED AIRLINES
- Effective
May 5th, 2008 a $25 fee each way applies for the 2nd
checked bag
- Applicable to all economy fare
types including refundable and non-refundable
- Applicable for all flights
within the US, and to/from Canada, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and
St. Thomas
Exemptions:
- Mileage Plus Premier status
members
- Star Alliance members with
Silver status or greater
NORTHWEST
- Effective May 5th, 2008 a $25
fee each way applies for the 2nd checked bag
- Applicable for all
non-refundable economy tickets issued on or after March 20, 2008
- Applicable for all flights
within the US, and to/from Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean
Exemptions:
- WorldPerks Elite members with
Silver, Gold, or Platinum status
- SkyTeam Elite members who book
in full Y or B fares can check up to 2 bags free
- First Class travelers can check
up to 3 bags free
